ABOUT

Makeup maven S.Mays Smith has built her burgeoning beauty business under one core principle: to give beauty is to give love. The heartfelt edict has served the maquillage and grooming expert well through the years, as she’s lovingly assisted hundreds of clients in looking their beautiful best.

Trained in New York and London, S.Mays’ blossoming celebrity clientele boasts such luminaries as Alicia Keys, Paula Abdul, Zendaya, Chrisette Michelle, Melanie Fiona, Jasmine Sullivan, ZOE Kravitz, and Elise Neal. She’s also groomed a-list male superstars including Kendrick Lamar and OuKast’s Big Boi. In addition to contracting world tours amassing appointments throughout the Americas, Europe, South Africa, Japan and Indonesia, S.Mays has glammed top talent for red carpets and stage appearances at the Grammy’s, Brit Awards, BET Honors, Soul Train Awards, and New York Fashion Week. Her screen credits cover “If Loving You is Wrong” (Tyler Perry), “RnB Divas LA”, “Blood Sweat and Heels”, “MTV Making the Band”, and “Real Husbands of Hollywood.” A respected industry leader, S.Mays’ make up and self care tips and tutorials have been featured in the pages of People, Essence, InStyle, and Kontrol magazines.

Still, S.Mays’ beloved work isn’t about celebrity connections or making headlines. Her focus has always been on helping everyday women fall in love with their own countenance by highlighting their inner glow. She’s committed to service and providing clients with extended self care options to optimize their beauty, thus raising their self-esteem and the possibility of success in pursing their dreams in a world that often seems set on telling them not to be comfortable in the skin they’re in.

To achieve this goal and reach women beyond super-sized stages, catwalks and celebrity clad red carpets, each year, S.Mays partners with Black Celebrity Giving (BCG) to beautify women impacted by domestic violence. BCG’s campaign hosts an empowerment panel and make over sessions meant to uplift participants. A mother of two, she also volunteers to primp and preen precious little ones participating in Little Miss Black U.S. pageants throughout Georgia.

Splitting her professional appointments between New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta, S.Mays also works to empower beauty industry professionals, hosting intimate workshops throughout the country and online where she openly shares her success narrative and helps other’s break into the beauty industry. Central to this undertaking is a hope that other makeup artists too take seriously her chief mission of giving love through beauty.
